Writing Prompt: The Best Excuse Note Ever

0

This creative writing assignment tends to be popular with WriteAtHome students. Our writing coaches get a kick out the creativity students demonstrate with this one.

Assignment: Pretend you are a high school student who has come to class without a very important project.  It can be an English paper, science project, history report — whatever you like. Fortunately, you do remember to bring an excuse note — the most outrageous, far-fetched, ingenious excuse note ever!

Address your teacher, but make the note narrative. In other words, tell all the impressive and amazing details of the story that explains the absence of your science project. Don’t just talk about what happened. Show your teacher what happened in an engaging story.

Be as creative, original, and outlandish as you like. No “my dog ate it” papers, please!
