Writing Tip #2: All Writing Is Creative Writing
All writing is creative writing. We tend to think that only poetry and works of fiction require creativity, but all good writing, whether it’s an essay, a research paper, or a business letter, demonstrates ingenuity, originality, and freshness. When you engage in the act of writing, you are fashioning something that has never before existed. The specific content of any work, its particular point of view, its organization, tone, phrasing, and vocabulary all spring from the creative center of the human brain. Writing is an essentially creative act.

Wouldn’t it be better English to say:
“Brian is the founder and president of WriteAtHome.com. One of his passions is to teach young people how better to write.”
No, it wouldn’t.
Why would you think that is “better English,” John?
Totally agree! I try to coach my Essay 1 and Essay 2 students to make their papers interesting– that is, creative.
