The 100 Words Every High School Freshman Should Know Quiz!

12

It took me longer than usual to finish this quiz. Sorry for the wait. It seems pretty easy to me, but we’ll see how people do. You don’t have to be a high school freshman to take it of course. Click on the image below to take the quiz and please take a minute to share how you did and offer any suggestions or criticisms of the quiz itself.

This quiz includes all 100 words from the American Heritage Dictionary’s list of 100 Words Every High School Freshman Should Know. I wrote about it here. It’s similar to the following quizzes I’ve posted previously:

For not learning anything due to summer and an upcoming freshman I believe I did fairly well with a 49%

I have to do this wordlist for my school and my teacher is strict and wants the origins I was wondering if you could make a new test or add them to this test.

I’m not sure I understand. You’d like me to add the word origins to the online test? I’m sorry, but I won’t be able to do that. All the words are linked to an online dictionary that provides some information on origins.

95%: yess! I really enjoyed this. Thanks for all the time and/or effort it took to create this quiz (and its counterparts).

Thanks for the quiz! I was thinking the same thing–about the effort to come up with all the wrong definitions! I missed a weird one. Don’t know what I was thinking!

The words seemed pretty easy, so I tried to make the answers a bit trickier this time. 🙂

Well, I’m giving myself a correction to 95% then 🙂

Thanks, Ryan. It’s not hard work, but it does take a long time.

There was a problem with “nuissance.” It’s fixed now.

94% for me. Thanks for posting this. I don’t think most people realize how hard it is to create something like this. You had to come up with 300 wrong definitions crafted to expose whether you actually know the definition.

There may be a problem with “nuisance.” It showed I got it wrong, but didn’t show the correct answer. (And I’m pretty sure I got it right.)
